Two North Yorkshire companies will be among 200 British firms in Dubai this week exploring potential business opportunities across the Middle East and North African markets. York-based construction business Shepherd Group and Harrogate business Advanced Hygienic Contracting are attending the “Britain in the Region” event organised by UK Trade & Investment.
The event is designed to provide a platform for UK companies to win business in the Middle East and North Africa. The businesses will be able to meet with trade experts from more than 18 markets from Algeria to Kuwait, Syria to Saudi Arabia.
The visit is the first to be brokered by UKTI in Yorkshire for the Shepherd Group.
James Barker, Shepherd’s country manager for the UAE, said: “Shepherd Group is looking to expand in the international market with its modular building systems, and this UKTI mission is the perfect platform for us to help achieve our goals. It is the first event we have been on with UKTI and they have given us superb service.”
Lindsay McKenzie, managing director at Advanced Hygienic Contracting, said: “This is the first UKTI trade mission for our export team. We are then going to Australia, America and China.
“We have started the export process in response to growing international enquiries. We are meeting with eight large construction and architectural groups who want to assist in the development and specification of Bioclad, our unique product, on current and future construction projects in healthcare, education, leisure and retail sectors. Bioclad is currently used widely in UK, Oman and Pakistan.”
